Internships are going to be your best bet at part time work. Find the area of accounting that you enjoy weather its general accounting, tax accounting, etc. and find a company that does that and look for internship positions. It is also a great idea to make friends with people who are a year ahead of you in accounting and ask them for referrals to internships that they had in the past.

Onesmus, My reply will be brief, as Violaine provided great feedback. I would suggest reaching out to the American Accounting Association. They have companies on their career page: the search by state engine is not very good, but it does list the companies that are affiliated with this organization. One of those companies might be located by you. In addition, if you check their Sections-Regions page, https://aaahq.org/Sections-Regions, you can see on the RH side that there is a Southwest region sub-group. I suggest you reach out to them to see if they know of part time employment opportunities for students. Good luck in your education and career choice!

You can reach out to the firms in your area to ask if they have internships or part-time positions for students. You can identify firms by doing a search in maps.google.com or yelp and then each will have their own website. Some may have a "career" or "job" section on their website and an email for any questions. If you send an email expressing your interest, be sure you tell them a little bit about yourself (where you go to school, what you are studying, what is your GPA, what is your graduation date) and why you are interested in working there. Ask someone to read through the email before you send to make sure you don't have any grammatical or spelling errors and it makes sense. Best of luck!

Hi there how are you? Finding a part-time job as an accountant while in school can be a great way to gain practical experience and earn some income. Here are some steps you can take to find a part-time job as an accountant:

1. Update your resume: Make sure your resume highlights your accounting skills, education, and any relevant experience you have. Include any coursework or projects related to accounting that you have completed.

2. Network: Reach out to your professors, classmates, and professional contacts to let them know you are looking for a part-time accounting job. Attend career fairs and networking events where you can connect with potential employers or professionals in the field.

3. Utilize job search platforms: Use online job search platforms such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and specialized accounting job boards to look for part-time accounting positions. Set up job alerts to receive notifications when new opportunities arise.

4. Contact local accounting firms: Research local accounting firms and reach out to them directly. Send a personalized cover letter and resume, expressing your interest in a part-time position and your willingness to learn and contribute.

5. Check university job boards: Many universities have job boards specifically for current students. Check your school's career services website or bulletin boards for part-time accounting job postings.

6. Explore internship opportunities: Some accounting firms offer part-time internships or co-op programs for students. These can be an excellent way to gain experience and potentially turn into a long-term job opportunity.

7. Volunteer or work for non-profit organizations: Consider offering your accounting skills to non-profit organizations in your area. This can provide valuable experience and networking opportunities.

8. Attend career workshops and seminars: Participate in career workshops and seminars organized by your university or professional accounting associations. These events can provide insights into job opportunities and help you make valuable connections.

9. Polish your interview skills: Prepare for interviews by researching common accounting interview questions and practicing your responses. Be prepared to discuss your accounting knowledge, skills, and any relevant experience.

10. Follow up: After applying for positions or attending interviews, follow up with a thank-you email or letter to express your interest and gratitude for the opportunity.

Remember, persistence is key when searching for a part-time job. Keep applying, networking, and improving your skills, and you will increase your chances of finding a suitable position. Good luck!
