George Avila

George Avila has over 22 years of service with Verizon and is a member of the Wireline Network Operations Systems Integration and Design team, working to deliver new innovations to various software systems and tools for the organization. In the current role, he partners with cross-functional teams to ideate strategies, constantly evolve and improve our internal technician/customer-centric ecosystem.

In previous roles, George has held various call center and field positions of increasing responsibility including Consultant, Trainer, Fiber Network Technician (FNT), FNT offline support for NJ/PA/DE, Customer Care Manager, Field Operations Local Manager for various Southern/Central NJ districts, and Sr. Trainer for Learning and Development.

As a Sr. Trainer for Learning and Development. He was nominated as a lead facilitator for the Fiber Optic Splicing curriculum. Beyond facilitating training sessions, George continuously partnered with multiple internal and external teams to ensure timely curriculum updates to internal and high-priority training programs, to maintain course relevance and fulfill clients' course delivery expectations.

Combining field operations and work experience with modern learning methodologies, George has led Train-the-Trainer courses in Leesburg, VA, and built, as well as maintained, cross functional partnerships on and off the operations field.

George graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor’s degree in Network Communications Management, and completed his MBA and MHRM programs from Keller Graduate School of Management. He is currently pursuing a certificate in German for Business at Oregon State University.

In his free time, George enjoys studying languages, travelling and spending time with his daughter.
