My name is Taylor Lopez and I am a College Counselor at Reedley College. I work for the DSP&S program on campus which means that I work with students with disabilities. I work with them regarding their college courses, majors, accommodations, job opportunities, and things like that!

In layperson terms, what do you actually do at work?
I help college students pick their major, register for classes, search for jobs if they want to work, and help them with accommodations since I work with students with disabilites.
How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?
I originally was an art major. I didn't think I could find a very stable job with that major so after two years I switched to criminology. When I was nearing graduation with that degree I felt like a job in the criminology field wasn't right for me. Once I graduated with my bachelor's degree in criminology I went to school for my master's degree in clinical rehabilitation and mental health counseling. I knew I wanted to help people and I knew I could do this with a mental health counseling degree. I really enjoy figuring out passions and majors so after I graduated with my master's degree I found that college counseling was perfect for me.
