Hey William!

I get the idea of wanting a good-paying job without being stuck working all the time. It's all about balancing pay with flexibility, right? So, while many jobs have set hours and pay, there are definitely some roles that allow you more freedom.

For a start, think about jobs like tutoring. If you're good at a subject, you can tutor classmates or even younger students. You set your hours, and the pay can be really decent for a high school student—especially if you’re tutoring more specialized subjects like math, science, or languages.

Another option is working as a pet sitter or dog walker. It’s flexible, and you can work when it fits your schedule. You could make pretty good money depending on how many clients you have and how much you charge. Plus, if you enjoy animals, it doesn't feel like work!

If you’re into tech or design, consider doing freelance gigs, like graphic design, social media management, or coding. You can set your own hours and rates, and there’s always demand for those kinds of skills. Sites like Fiverr or Upwork are great places to start finding clients.

And, if you’re looking for something more traditional, a part-time job at a place like a coffee shop or bookstore might be worth looking into. While hours can vary, shifts are usually flexible, and these jobs often offer decent pay (especially tips at coffee shops!).

Lastly, think about seasonal work. For example, working in the summer at a camp, as a lifeguard, or at an amusement park can offer good pay and leave you with plenty of time off during the school year.

Remember, while pay is important, it's also key to think about what you enjoy and what skills you're building for the future! So, look for something that gives you the balance you're after. Good luck with your search!

Hello, William !

The thing is, you do not make your own hours, the company that hires you tells you what your hours are. You also do not know what the pay is and no one here can tell you. You would have to read employment notices or seek employment in person at various places in order to know how much they pay.

Since no one can tell you of pay and hours and you'd have to find that out yourself, think about what type of work you'd enjoy doing. Jobs are not picked by hours and pay alone - you have to like what you'd be doing. Anyplace you apply for a job at is going to have set hours and days that they need you and unless you're flexible, even about pay, it may take you a long time to find a job. You also need to be qualified and know how to do the job.

You can try retail stores, supermarkets and businesses around where you live.

At 15, you will need to visit the office at your high school to obtain Working Papers - a Work Permit.

I hope you find a job to your liking and wish you all the best !
