Atiya’s Answer

Hello, Jeffrey It's admirable that you considered establishing a connection while in law school. First of all, building relationships is crucial if you intend to pursue a career in litigation for a variety of reasons, such as obtaining clients.

Atiya recommends the following next steps:

You can apply to the workshops for pre law students
You can also find connections in linkdin
You can check various lawyers that belongs to your city in google

David’s Answer

If your plan is to enter a law enforcement career, a law degree is a bit overkill. A degree in criminal justice, criminology, homeland security, etc would likely better prepare you for the day-to-day operations you'll do. Much of law school is focused on civil law, which is something law enforcement generally does not deal with; the exception would be process servers (Sheriff's Office, Constables Office, etc). A law degree usually requires 7-8 years of school, and it's unlikely you will receive any education incentive beyond a BA/BS degree.

If you wish to be a lawyer or work for a prosecutor's office, then the law degree is an excellent idea.
