What do you have to do to become a tattoo artist?

Being a sophomore in high school, I practice drawing every day to get better. I know that to be a tattoo artist, you need your license in tattooing and an apprenticeship, but the questions I have are: What type of art should be in my portfolio when looking for an apprenticeship? like what do I have to do become a tattoo artist?

I'm a fine artist, and I've noticed that tattoos often use line drawings, with some including shading and detailed designs. Consider finding a reputable tattoo parlor nearby and ask if you can become an apprentice.
