How do you recommend growing your attention span prior to going to collage in an manageable way?
I feel like social media has taken over my brain and my attention span leading me to only lean on instant gratification, but I want to be able to commit and engage with something longer than two minutes. (especially going into collage in the Fall)

Hi Kaya! I completely understand the struggle to block out distractions. I have ADD any it's always been an issue that I've learned to work around.
There are a few ways to work around this and I'll let you know what's worked best for me.
1. When in class, either leave your phone in your car or bag. Having it easily accessible is a big way of having it distract you.
2. Surround yourself with people who are also passionate about succeeding/self-improvement. Having friends who are also working on themselves can motivate you to work on yourself as well! You can also hold each other accountable and grow together!
3. If there are lecture recordings watch them for revising. Typically, these lectures will be 1-2 hours long and that can be difficult for anyone to retain. what I recommend is putting aside time to watch them at home. If you can watch them at 1.5x speed that's better but if not watch them in 15–30-minute intervals to pace yourself.
I sincerely hope this helps. shoot me a message if you have any more questions!

I totally get how distracting social media can be! Try keeping an eye on how much time you spend on your screen, and maybe set some goals to cut back a bit. When you start college, you can use the "do not disturb" setting on your devices to stay focused. In class, think about taking notes by hand instead of on your laptop to stay more engaged. Technology is super useful, but it's all about finding the right balance. Hope this helps!
