Hi Xavier,
I'm excited to share my recommendations with you and explain why I feel this way. I believe focusing on chemical engineering alone or pairing it with a biomedical engineering minor could be a great path for you. It's important to consider whether you want to stay in academia, as juggling two demanding engineering majors might not be as beneficial as using that time for internships or other valuable experiences like research labs. This could help prevent burnout and open up more opportunities.
Chemical engineering provides a strong foundation that can easily lead to a focus on biomedical engineering in graduate school.
In the biomedical industry, when I'm looking to hire, I value:
- Any engineering degree, with a preference for electrical, mechanical, chemical, or bio.
- Experience in the specific field, where a minor or second major can count.
- The ability and eagerness to learn new systems.
- The ability to work well with others.
I hope this gives you some helpful insights to consider!

You can do either. You can also delay this decision until you completed your freshman year and decide then.
