Jason,

There will always be jobs in the CRJ field.

How the political climate will affect your desire to be a part of that field is a difficult question. Like the military, law enforcement officers are expected to do their jobs and follow orders. If those orders happen to be that you will arrest people for obstructing a sidewalk even though they are walking in a single file line while holding up protest signs, that's what you will do. Even if you disagree with those orders. If you are unwilling to carry out those types of orders, you may want to go into a support role, such as criminal analyst, rather than an enforcement role.

Four years may seem like an eternity, but, it is not. Focus on your schooling, and keeping a clean social media presence. Background checks are pretty thorough. We have weathered worse storms than this. We'll get through it!

Subir Singh’s Answer

Political unrest is constant. You have to understand that any career path you choose is not a straight line. You have to learn to navigate and deal with the ups and downs of life and career and many challenges requiring your attention at the same time.

There are things that will be out of your control like politicians that get elected outside of your voting district or state. If your interest is real, your inner drive can help navigate these things. Follow your passions because the work doesn't stop, but sometimes that interest and passion will make the load feel lighter.
