As a high school student, how do I know if pursuing a career in medicine is the right path for me??

I am a high school senior this year and am planning on majoring in biology to enter Med School.

I recommend shadowing different professions in the health field because not only will it help you realize if this is something you want to do, but most med schools do require a specific amount of hours to apply. Don’t feel rushed to make a decision right now. You are still young and exploring your options.

I suggest you dive into as many medical-related courses as you can while in high school. Check if your school has a sports medicine program where you can help out during football or basketball games. This hands-on experience will give you a taste of what entry-level work in the field is like. Additionally, consider inviting a medical assistant or nurse for a coffee chat and ask if you can shadow them for a bit. You've got this!
