What has helped many students, including me, is taking small, consistent steps every day. Here are a few simple habits that really make a difference:
Set Daily Goals and Study Times
Have a clear goal for what you want to accomplish each day, and stick to a specific time for studying. This builds a routine and keeps you on track.
Reinforce Your Learning with Quick Reviews
After finishing a topic, take just a few minutes to mentally review what you learned. Do this twice on the same day to reinforce your understanding
Start Each Day with a Review
Before diving into a new topic, quickly review what you studied the previous day. It refreshes your memory and sets the stage for deeper learning.

Hi Atley,
This is a very important questions for many people before starting college. I can help you with a few tips while you're getting ready for your college classes!
First thing, always check the syllabus and due dates.
You should be able to open your syllabus for every class either before or when the class starts, going over each project, the due dates, what the requirements for each class are is very helpful. You may find other information such as ways to contact the professor, class schedule, late policy or opportunities for extra credits. Those things are usually all listed in the syllabus so whenever you have a question about the class, before asking the professor, check the syllabus first. This is a very easy task, yet saves you so much time, instead of emailing and having to wait for hours, but this is still something you can do when you need extra help.
Second, plan things ahead. When you are familiar with the syllabus and how it usually goes in class, or your transportation between places, make plan to reduce the unnecessary time as much as possible. Planning things ahead meaning you most know how your day would be, such as class in the morning and afternoon, with a break between two classes, and you have to make time going there to not be late. Check the bus route, how long it will arrive, or if you should walk, or drive, whichever option is the best. This way, you know if you have time to read, do some extra work, prepare a writing before class starts. Doing this not only help getting your project done fast and on time, it also save you free time at the end of the week, so you don't spend it on homework. You can take a break, travel or prepare for the next assignment, or especially if something urgent comes up.
Third, always do research on your assignment. This depends on the class as some does not require much research. If it is a major class then it is very crucial. Before diving into the main part of the project, doing research help you to know what the main elements, supporting elements, and how to organize the work accurately. You also understand the task better, and can prepare the right tools.
Fourth, whenever you have questions, challenges about the project, or anything in that class, ask your colleagues and professors
During class time or even outside of class, if you have questions regarding the lecture, homework or anything, make sure to talk to the professor so you can complete it with all the requirements. I don't recommend waiting until the day before it's due to ask since the professor will need to see your work before giving you feedback, and this takes time, they also may be busy with other class and questions from different students. So ask them as soon as you have a questions, or compose them into a list so you can ask them all in one sitting. Again, planning ahead is extremely important, because you can save so much time. An example would be: you have a project that is due this Friday, right now it is Monday, and you have questions. So, you make time to talk to the professor and you have 4 days before it's due, with other classes, meetings, chores or tasks unfinished, you planned to talk to the professor on Tuesday so there is still time to complete the project.
Fifth, depending on which class you are taking, practice whenever you get the chance
To improve your skills in any course, you can always practice until you are great at that task. If you're focusing on writing, spend 1-2 hours everyday to write what you want, think about the grammar, story, ending of the story. If you focus on crafting a model, and you're unfamiliar with the tools, prepare the materials and work with them a few times before going right for the final piece. Just a few practices can improve your skills, this can boost your result and grading. You might even be able to use the final piece for your portfolio!
Lastly, prioritize what needs to be done first. This is pretty similar with planning things ahead, this is to make sure that when you are preparing the upcoming week, you plan to get the important assignments done first. This can be a final project that weight 30% of the course, or a more simple project but is due in two days. Write down the dates and time they need to be submitted so you don't forget. This task if also very simple yet effective. Crossing an item off your to do list feels amazing so you have less to do, and think of all the extra time you have to relax!
These are all the tips that I think will help you most when getting into college, I hope they help!!
Best wishes with your upcoming adventure!

Hi Atley! 😊
It's awesome that you're thinking about your study habits as you start college. Being intentional will really help you out. Here are some tips to build strong study habits:
- Stick to a regular weekly schedule, like studying for 2 hours each evening.
- Try the Pomodoro technique: study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. I used this when I was a student and still use it at work. It helps keep stress down and makes things less overwhelming.
- Study actively by quizzing yourself, explaining ideas out loud, or using flashcards.
- Review your notes weekly instead of cramming before exams.
- Keep organized with a planner or an app.
- Don't hesitate to ask questions and join study groups if you can.
