What is one thing I should do before (or during) my freshman year of college?
I am a current high school senior who has been accepted to and enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for meteorology. My first semester is Fall 2025, and I am trying to prepare myself for freshman year. I already have a potential roommate, but I am looking for tips for my first year. My fall semester consists of 6 classes (Chemistry, Chemistry lab, Calc 1, English, Weather, and a general college success course), and I am worried about managing my time. It will also be the first time living dorm-style, and I don't know what to expect.
Any college tips would help!

High school and college are different, but you can use what you've learned so far. Think about where you study best and where you feel most creative and focused. Then try to find places like that on or off campus.
In college, you'll have more free time between classes. As you prepare for your first semester, consider how you want to use your time each day. Plan for meals, study sessions, walking between classes, exercise, hanging out with friends, and joining clubs or getting a student job. Adjusting your schedule as you settle in will help you manage your time better.
Enjoy your transition to college!

Paper calendars are still my favorite way to keep track of travel, deadlines, and other important happenings. I use color coding to help me differentiate between types of events. You’ll need to find what works best for you.
