How can you make the most of your college dorm experience while staying focused as a full-time student?
I am an incoming freshman planning to live in the dorms. I look forward to enjoying my dorm experience and meeting new people, but I know I will be focused on studying. Do you have any tips?

Hi Christiana, freshman year is an exciting time! I recommend limiting distractions when you are focused on study. (Think silencing your phone, going to a more private space). Deep focus allows for more learning. Also remember to be kind to yourself. There may be times when you need to fill your social battery and you could stare at a page of notes for 30 min and absorb nothing if you're not in the right frame of mind. Being self-aware like that can be very helpful too! Ultimately, prioritize what's important to you - your most important studying/homework and your most important social events. Best of luck to you!

I lived in the dorms for the first 3 years of my college experience and it was very convenient because I didn’t drive so I can walk to class. I really enjoyed living in the dorms because I got to meet lots of people and grew friendships that will last a while. The way I stayed focused in class while still having fun is that I prioritized my planner before making any plans. I set time in advanced for school work and any possible gaps that may arise such as extra time to study. I also tried to have a good routine with friends to go study at the library which is nice cause you are already on campus too.
Have a very detailed planner that you update and look at daily so you don’t miss anything.
