How do I find local scholarships to apply to? What should I do during the summer between high school and college?

College Foundations connect many of their scholarships to specific subjects, activities, majors, ethnicities and classifications.
You might find scholarships for students who are first generation college students (neither parent has a college degree), students who are focusing their major on teaching, engineering or radiology, or students who might be hispanic in ethnicity.
Most of the time potential applicants can find nearly anything that fits into a classification or subject that defines them or their future goals.
All colleges and universities have foundations that offer scholarships. I would log into the website (of the college you are attending or wishing to attend),and research the ones which apply to you and your particular interests.

Hi Santiago,
That's a great question! If you need to find local scholarships, there are several things you can do. One great step is to search online for local scholarships you can apply to in your area. Sometimes you'll find websites based on local scholarships, and then you can apply online. Just make sure that the website is legitimate and it's officially connected to a trusted scholarship.
You can find legitimate scholarships on your high school's website. Many high school websites have a section where you can find the local scholarships. You can also ask local religious organizations and local business associations, which sometimes offer community-based scholarships.
Other options include reaching out to your local government offices, such as your mayor's office, and exploring the parks and recreation department of your city or county. These groups often support scholarships for local students, and even if you don't find what you're looking for, it's good to reach out and stay in touch with them anyway. If there are opportunities for scholarships in the future, they know you're interested, and they can send that information to you!
Your local librarians can also give valuable information about any scholarship programs in your area, and nonprofit organizations sometimes offer scholarships to students, too. Make sure to explore any local nonprofits and their support for education.
These are all great ways to find scholarships, and there are plenty more ways to discover them. These are just a few ideas you can use to get started! Hopefully, they give you some insights on what you can do to afford college.
