Why are so many students excluded from scolarships that are oddly specific to only certain continents of the world?

Hello, Janesha !
Please try not to feel excluded because every college in Florida does offer scholarships to their current students and there are many nationwide, city, county, corporate based, and Major based scholarships and grants that Florida students can apply for. Donors that offer scholarships always set a catchment area as well as how many of those scholarships can be granted to students each year. That's just how it works, but with more research, you can make the most of your scholarship and grant search.
Your first step is to visit your guidance counselor who may know of some local and company based scholarships that ARE NOT listed on the internet. You can apply for The Florida Student Assistance Grant Program, the Florida Public Student Assistance Grant, The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. You can then do a search for scholarships and grants based on your major. They come in all categories and it's just a matter of covering a lot of ground to find them. The monies do not have to come from Florida, they come from all over. And remember, each college in Florida has their own scholarships so they're for students that attend a college in Florida.
Also look into The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options and the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship. Jacksonville University also partners with the City of Jacksonville and the Duval County Public Schools to fund two full JU scholarships per year. The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida offers scholarships, too.
A scholarship or grant is valuable regardless where the headquarters are. You do have opportunity. Figure out which college you intend to enroll at and explore that particular college's scholarships. Go online, to the Academic Counseling Center, the Financial Aid Office and Career Center at the college you have chosen and they can help you with scholarships connected to your major. Check with your local Chamber of Commerce for new scholarships that may not be listed on the internet.
It does take a lot of research to find scholarships, but don't limit yourself to just the ones from Florida, apply for as many that you qualify for to increase your chances of getting some.
Best wishes in all you do !
