Welding is an Art. There are needs all over in different industries, and it is a specialized occupation.
Underwater welding is even more specialized and is in high demand. There are union jobs and private companies that you are able to work for.

There are many benefits not just from a union but also private companies have great benefits (medical etc.) and retirement plans to help in the future.

Stay focused and keep learning,
Dave

I work in the events filled, and it can be highly rewarding when events go well and you are a part of someone special day. The industry can also be very demanding. I have had a few 15 hour days in the last few weeks and those can be tough to weather as you get older.

If you enter the field with a plan to grow and excel, you can find a lot of success. Just know that it’s not a 9-to-5 office job and there are stretches of the year that will be overwhelming.

It entirely depends on the company you're working for. It's not entirely consistent throughout the industry.

Matthew’s Answer

The benefits you get depend on what you value. The welding community is small, and its groups are even smaller. If being part of this community is important to you, then that's a benefit. Joining the American Welding Society (AWS) is a great way to find growth and training opportunities. In the welding world, nothing is just given to you. You have to earn opportunities through hard work, and others need to see that you've earned them. If you work hard, chances will come your way.

Remember, your reputation follows you everywhere. If your name gets linked to something negative, it can be very hard to change that.
