Quick search (https://www.salary.com/research/salary/benchmark/automotive-mechanic-i-salary/yuma-az) shows the range is roughly $45k to $60k. On average, around $52k earning $25/hour plus whatever overtime.
This number will vary depending on where you live and how much experience you have. For example, a dealership mechanic might make twice that, or a diesel mechanic might make more than that. Starting out, you should expect to be at the lower end of the range, but that number should increase with experience, certifications, and specialization.

your earning potential is endless depending on how far you go and what you do in the field. keep in mind mechanic is a broad field. it's pretty much up to you. some people make a pretty decent living working on cars on their own, or you could be a nascar mechanic making over 120k a year. seeing how your still in school i suggest keep studying and follow your heart, if you have a passion for mechanical work you could possibly end up becoming an engineer. please DO NOT let money become your primary deciding factor on what path you take. it's important to have a good income but its more important to have a fulfilling career that you are passionate about.

Working as a mechanic can indeed bring a good income, but the key is to keep learning and specializing. The more experience and knowledge you have — especially with modern cars and automotive technology — the more valuable you will be in the job market. Beyond the money, it is also important to think about doing what you enjoy and finding a place where you are recognized. Dedicating yourself now can open better doors in the future, both in salary and opportunities. But the most important thing in life is to work in what brings you the most joy. The more you dedicate yourself and specialize, the more you become a valued professional and the better you can enjoy life to the fullest.
