That’s such a thoughtful dream, Reece—and I love how you’re thinking about happiness and fun as part of your future. I'm NOT a YouTuber myself, but I'm advising you based on my understanding. Being a YouTuber can be an exciting and creative career, but like any path, it has both benefits and challenges. On the plus side, YouTube gives you a free platform to express yourself, share your passions, and connect with people around the world. You can make an impact, build confidence, and even earn money if your channel grows. But there are also disadvantages: income can be unpredictable, and you might feel pressure to constantly create new content. It can be emotionally tough dealing with public feedback, and sometimes trends change quickly, making it hard to keep up. Since you’re in 7th grade and don’t have your own device yet, the best thing you can do now is start planning your ideas, practice storytelling, and learn basic video editing when you get the chance. You can even sketch out your channel name, themes, or video ideas in a notebook. Here are some great resources to help you explore and grow a career as a YouTuber:

If you stay true to what makes you happy and keep learning, you’ll be ready when the time comes. All the best!

Cheers!!

Daniela’s Answer

Hi Reece,

It’s great that you’re already thinking about becoming a YouTuber. I’ve been creating content myself, and here are some honest pros and cons I’ve seen:

Benefits

You get to be creative and talk about the things you love.
You can build a community of people who share your interests.
You’ll learn useful skills like editing, storytelling, and design that can help you later in life.
If you keep going, there are opportunities to turn it into something bigger, even a career.

Disadvantages

It takes a lot of time and effort to make and upload videos consistently.
Not everyone will like what you post, and sometimes people can be unkind.
You might need better equipment as you grow, and that can cost money.
It’s easy to get caught up in views and likes, which can take away the fun if you let it.

My advice is to start with what you already have, even if it’s just your phone. Focus on making videos you enjoy. If you’re having fun, that will come through to the people watching.

Daniela recommends the following next steps:

Start small: record short videos on topics you like, even if you never post them. This helps you practice.
Watch YouTubers you admire, not just for entertainment but to study how they make their videos.
Try learning a little bit of editing (there are free apps and tutorials online).
Ask friends or family for feedback, and don’t be afraid to improve step by step.
Remember that consistency and patience matter more than fancy equipment at the beginning.
