Hello, Yzzabella !

You have chosen a very exciting and beautiful career. You didn't include much detail such as your town, city and state or what type of dance you intend to pursue. You will need specific advice and direct referrals for this career because it is not generalized and everyone's circumstances are different and you didn't mention if you're already dancing/training or if it's that you want to start.

At the age of twelve you should continue with or start taking dance lessons where you live. Take all genres of dance to become versatile and able to obtain a variety or work once you start your career. It also may help if you attend college so that you will have a degree later on in life in a subject that you can do while you're not dancing or teaching dance or doing choreography.

So, you'll need several years of dance training, experience and performance and you will be able to know when to start auditioning for paid work. Your choreographers and directors will also be able to let you know that you're ready. You'll want to become familiar with where to look for auditions. During the path of your performance and training, people will inform you of local and out of town auditions. In addition to that, there should be some websites that carry audition notices for dancers, but you didn't mention the city or state you are in so I could refer you to local auditions. In general, websites such as Backstage (Charges a fee), Dancing Opportunities, Dance Auditions, Dance Plug, Dance USA, Dance Europe, Dance Apply, Answers 4 Dancers (charges a fee), Calltime (fee), Broadway World ! (Free), Playbill (Free), Radio City Rockettes (Free), Dance NYC (Free), and I am sure there are more. These are websites that tell you where auditions are being held. You could also register at Actors Access as a Dancer because sometimes they have audition notices for Dancers and it's broken up into geographic locations.

By the way, I know I do not agree that anyone should pay in order to obtain work and till this day, I do not. I just want to mention that mostly all websites that carry sudations have a fee involved. It didn't used to be this way when everyone had an office and things were done in person. But I still get contacted even though I do not pay. As an actress, I use to unpaid level of casting websites and use the casting companies that do not charge a fee. On the sites that charge a fee, you're paying to get the full information about the audition. Once you start exploring this, you'll understand it.

So, do as much dancing at school as you can and audition for school shows even if there's no dancing involved. Continue with that all through high school and attend college. A friend of mine has her Bachelors Degree in Dance. You are going to need a second career to fall back on unless you plan to teach or choreograph.

When inquiring about this career, be as specific as possible of your particular circumstances so that you can obtain more information that will help you. Return here to ask more focused questions about this career. I hope this helps and I wish you the very best !
