Yes, being a soccer player can absolutely be a career, but it requires commitment, preparation, and exposure. I am from Brazil, where soccer is a major part of the culture, and although my sport is tennis, I understand the dedication that it takes to pursue athletics at a serious level.

Becoming a professional athlete usually takes years of consistent training, discipline, and competition. Many athletes begin young, but what matters most is the effort and focus you put in starting from where you are today. Everyone’s path is different, but success depends on practice, commitment, and taking opportunities when they appear.

In sports, exposure is just as important as training. Scouts, coaches, and agents need to see athletes performing in competitive settings to evaluate their potential. Without those opportunities, it is much harder to be recognized. In my own case, I began tennis at 13 and did not always have access to major tournaments such as ITF and others across my country. Without those experiences, it was difficult to build the record that professionals look for. This is why playing in leagues and tournaments matters. It not only improves your skills but also shows your ability to compete at higher levels.

Soccer follows the same principle. Training consistently, competing in serious leagues, and putting yourself in situations where scouts and coaches can watch you are essential steps. Natural talent can take you far, but talent combined with discipline, persistence, and visibility is what creates real opportunities.

For anyone dreaming of becoming a soccer player, my advice is to start now. Dedicate yourself to training, look for competitive opportunities, and always keep learning. Even if the professional path is difficult, sports can open doors in many ways, whether through scholarships, international opportunities, or building life skills that last forever. A dream becomes possible when you combine it with action.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know that you like soccer. In fact, not all soccer would travel around all time time. The local team usually would play the games in the city. It depends on the team size.
Below are my suggestions :
1. There are many careers related soccer other than player, e.g. Coach, Sports Nutritionist, Physiotherapist, Sport Journalist, Sports Commentor, etc. Suggest you explore more on different soccer related careers.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest.
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. If you really want to become a soccer player, you need to join the training program of soccer teams. For other careers, explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
