Hi Sam,

You find information regarding job outlook and predicted hiring numbers on the website of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Since you didn't give any indication where you live or what kind of jobs you might be interested in I can't give any more specific advice.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Hello, Sam !

Welcome to Career Village, a place to receive ADVICE about college and career matters. In your inquiry, you want to know how many Golf Opens happen and I assume that you mean in the United States. Since you want to pursue a career in Sports/Golf Management, I will assume that you are seeking information about this career as expressed in your question from yesterday. There is 1 U.S. Open per year and the location varies. There are 16,000 Golf Courses in the United States where people play all the time. Knowing what the chances are to be a Golf Manager is better seen based on the amount of places that cater to golfers. You can even strive to be a Golf Course Manager, General Manager, or Club Manager, and it involves overseeing the overall operations of a golf course or club. Sounds awesome !

That being said, there's really no one way to "manage" one golfer unless it's a situation like Tiger Woods who started as a kid and had his father "manage" him. If you want to manage single golfers, you'd have to strike up a relationship with them and they would need to ask you to manage them, there's no application to fill out. You'll get more familiar with this through a college path and know how to do this career during your time in college.

So, to become a Manager around Golf, you would need to attend college for your Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Golf Course Management (if you can find a college that offers that major). Consider Business Management which most colleges offer. At the same time, register for a college Golf class and take it every semester if they don't offer different versions like beginning, intermediate and advanced. The Bachelors Degree is recommended because it is a competitive position and you'd gain great experience through a four year path, more than a two year path for an Associates Degree. You'd also meet more people in that environment in four years as opposed to two years and with sports, it's crucial to network and have strong contacts.

Sports is a little like Acting in that it's a performance field and you really have to be out there so people will know who you are. You will need to attend lots of golf match play competitions and regular local golf matches. Play golf every day if you can and become expert in how the green is set up and the way the club house/main building on the course is run, that would be to your advantage even if you have to volunteer working there for a while.

Since we offer advice here, there's no way that we can say how many golf courses are hiring right now, also because you didn't include your location. You can find a list of Golf Courses online through a search for golf course locations in your town or city and within a two hour driving radius as you've requested. But remember, the important aspect of this, just like Acting, is to be around golf everyday, let people get to know you, play a lot of golf and doing volunteer work at golf courses. That along with obtaining your Bachelors Degree and heavily networking at the beginning will help greatly.

Do return here for more advice and remember, the more detailed you are in your questions, the better advice can be given ! Best wishes to you in all you do !
