Paul’s Answer

I would look at finding potential employment at a local county or state career center.

These centers offer resources like job listings, workshops on resume writing and interviewing, access to computers, and career counselors who can assess your skills and refer you to suitable positions.

You can also use statewide online job boards and resources like the federal CareerOneStop website to find local American Job Centers and opportunities.

So, this might be an option to consider.

Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Christina !

We do not find jobs for students to apply to, but I can give you some advice since it seems as though you haven't worked yet and may need some information. Since you're not familiar with employment or how to go about navigating jobs, I would like to suggest that you start out with employment services so that you can be trained, obtain information about how employment works, be prepared and even be placed at your first job.

In your town of Washington, Washington which is near Tacoma, there are some Employment Services Programs for teens that would be very helpful for you. They mostly have county based catchment areas so if you live in the county mentioned, it would be great to seek assistance from the programs. WorkSource - PacMtn WDC offers specialized services for youth aged 14-24 in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties . The Youth Employment Services Program serves 14 - 21 year olds that have a disability. The Youth Employment Services Program at YWCA Works serves youth and young adults aged 16-28. In Southwest Washington, the NEXT Success program serves young adults aged 16-24 across Clark, Cowlitz, and Wahkiakum counties. Career Connect Washington is for students of all ages. Clark County TeenTalk provides free employment services for teens aged 16 and older and they will even write a resume for you.

If you are 16 and older, you'll have to complete applications and wait to hear back from the company. I would suggest applying to a Supermarket or a Walmart or Dollar General for your first job. You'll have to apply for jobs that you qualify for, but many retail employers hire people who have no experience. Definitely join one of the employment programs I've mentioned as they can be a great resource that leads to a job. Even though you can't tell how fast or soon you'd be hired, it's good to cover a lot of ground. Make sure you can do the work and dedicate some time to sharpening skills and learning about the process of employment.

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !

Heather’s Answer

Hi Christina,
Finding a job quickly can feel overwhelming, but one of the most important things I wish I knew earlier in my career is how powerful networking can be. Submitting applications online is only part of the process, but building connections often makes the biggest difference in getting your foot in the door.

Here are a few things that can help:

• Use LinkedIn: Connect with people in your field, follow companies you’re interested in, and comment on posts to get your name out there.

• Join groups & webinars: Professional associations, online communities, and virtual events are a great way to meet others and learn what skills are in demand.

• Reach out for conversations: Don’t be afraid to message someone in your industry to ask about their career path or advice, it can often lead to opportunities you wouldn’t find on a job board.

Even if you’re not sure what type of job you want yet, building a strong network and staying engaged with others in your field will open doors much faster than applying blindly. I just recently went through this and networking was a game changer for me.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Find a decent CV template online. Use it to customize the CV
2. Search on some job boards, eg linkedin
3. Contact the job ages ts or send your CV to thm
4. Explore the career portal of large corporates
If you identify any opportunities that you may fit, read the job specification in details. Customize your CV for the requirements.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
