Armando de Jesús’s Answer

Although I haven’t personally installed electrical power lines, I’ve been involved in the engineering side of the process, which gave me a deep appreciation for the work that installers do. What first sparked my interest in this field was seeing how critical power infrastructure is to everyday life and how it connects communities, powers homes and businesses, and supports modern society. Being part of the engineering team allowed me to contribute to these essential systems, and it’s incredibly rewarding to know that our work (engineering and installation) helps keep the lights on, quite literally.

مؤمن’s Answer

That’s a great question, Jacob! For me, it was a combination of three things:
The 'Hero' Aspect: I’ve always admired how linemen are the first responders during natural disasters. Seeing crews work through storms to restore power to hospitals and homes made me realize how essential this job is for the community.
Love for the Outdoors: I knew early on that a 9-to-5 desk job wasn't for me. I wanted a career that kept me active, outdoors, and challenged by the elements.
The Technical Challenge: There’s a unique mix of physical strength and high-level problem solving involved in electrical work. Understanding how the grid functions and then physically building it is incredibly satisfying.
There’s also a huge sense of 'brotherhood' in this trade that you don't find in many other professions!
