What daily routines can help improve my vocal technique and stage presence" "Which competitions or programs are ideal for teen singers?" "How can I start building a presence in the music industry as a young artist?" ?

Hi! I’m Christina, but my stage name is Fancy Fox. I’m 16 years old and I’m dreaming of becoming a professional singer. Music is my passion, and I’m super motivated and ready to put in the work—but I know guidance from people with real experience in the music industry is invaluable. I’ve also started sharing my music on YouTube, where I post original songs and covers, and I’d love advice on how to grow and improve my presence as a young artist.
I’m hoping to get guidance on several key areas to help me develop my skills and start building a professional music career:
1. Daily and weekly routines to improve singing, performance, and stage presence:
* What exercises or practices should I do consistently to improve my vocal technique, control, range, and emotional delivery?
* How can I practice stage presence, confidence, and connecting with an audience, even at home?
* Are there ways to structure practice sessions so I see steady progress as a teen artist?
2. Songwriting, collaboration, and music skills:
* Should I focus on learning an instrument to support my singing? If so, which ones are most useful?
* How do I start writing my own songs and developing my own unique style?
* Are there ways to collaborate with other young artists, producers, or mentors safely and effectively?
* Should I learn basic sound engineering or recording skills to help with producing music?
3. Competitions, auditions, and programs for teen singers:
* Are there specific contests, music programs, or auditions for teens that help with gaining experience and exposure?
* How should I prepare for these opportunities to stand out and make the most of them?
4. Building a presence in the music industry as a young artist:
* How can I share my music online effectively, including on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram?
* What strategies help young artists grow a following, get noticed, and connect with fans professionally?
* How do I start networking and learning from other professionals in the industry?
5. Career guidance, mindset, and long-term growth:
* How do professional singers balance school, practice, and pursuing music seriously?
* How can I handle feedback, criticism, and challenges while staying motivated?
* Are there daily habits, routines, or mindsets that helped you succeed in music?
Any advice, personal stories, resources, or step-by-step guidance you could share would mean the world to me. I’m ready to take action today, follow a clear plan, and work hard to turn my dream of becoming a professional singer into reality.
Thank you so much for your time, guidance, and inspiration! 🎤✨❤️💫

Thank you comment icon Stretch your range. Sing your favorite high notes with your music, and also try singing lower tenor range songs to expand the notes you can sing. Don't forget to practice. Also start to structure what kind of songs you want to be known for, and maybe write your own! Nevaeh

Hello again, Christina !

It's good to see you return here. Please go to your other post where I've provided you before with advice, places to join to sing, classes, etc. I did review your You Tube Channel and want to humbly say that you are going to need both one on one private singing lessons as well as singing lessons in school. Because all of your videos are Acapella, I was able to make a clear evaluation.

People do not become singers because they want to. You will need in person (not at home doing exercises) training to get to a level where you could possibly audition. Don't worry, everyone has to start somewhere, but you will have to be willing, as eager as you sound, to take active steps for the training. Take it a step at a time - first learn the techniques for singing, how to breath, how to annunciate and phrase, to sing from the diaphragm and not the throat, to sing and not hum-speak a song. This can only be done with instruction in person at school or from a vocal coach or singing instructor in the community. It's an investment you're going to have to make.

Focus on your voice for now and the other things can come later such as the writing and tech and playing an instrument. You do not need to know how to do these things to become a singer and you're compounding what's important - developing your singing voice. Expand your social circle to enhance your confidence and be around other singers and groups and musicians. Everyone develops confidence in different ways, so joining groups and extracurriculars at school may help with confidence. Your singing instructors will teach you stage presence. It's not going to be something that you can teach yourself. It's not going to be something that strangers online can teach you.

Another bit of advice after evaluating your singing as well as reading this post is that you are over burdening yourself with thoughts and haven't taken the first step yet. Start taking lessons so that you can be directed and coached for singing. Thinking about it will get you nowhere as is the case for many things. Take the active steps for your voice and you will begin to learn exactly what is needed to sing. And don't give up no matter how long it takes.

Taking criticism and staying motivated comes with life experience and personal growth, so no one who doesn't know you can tell you the answer to that. It will come with time. Music, like Acting is an opinion business but there are some foundational and basic elements that need to be there in order to have potential to be professional. People may say that talent is not necessary, but truthfully, it is.

I hope this is helpful in that you will not find the need to overthink it and that you will go for the training that you need at this time. The longer you put it off, the longer it will take for you to understand what is needed to be a singer. I wish you all the best moving forward and do re-read the advice I have given you to your previous inquiry.
Thank you comment icon Hi! Thank you so much for your advice and for reviewing my YouTube channel. I practice singing 30–45 mins a day, doing cover songs, humming, and do-re-mi exercises. My tone is strong, but I want to improve breath control, high notes, clarity, and emotional expression. Lessons are expensive, so I’m exploring school programs, community classes, and scholarships. I’ve performed in a Christmas talent show and on YouTube, and I’ve learned the importance of commitment. My dream is to become a professional singer as Fancy Fox, and I’d love any tips on affordable practice or safe teen programs. Christina
