When originating from underserved communities, in what ways can you actively be contributing to it while still building yourself/career. My entire purpose is to serve and contribute to the growth of our environment, however, funding and resources are essential to doing so effectively. How do I feed into my passion and build my professional mechanics simultaneously?

That's a fantastic question and an important topic. I've recently begun volunteering with a non-profit called Green Interchange, where we focus on urban greening in areas that need it most. You might want to explore non-profits active in your community. Even if funding seems challenging, there are many organizations offering grants for various projects. Volunteering also connects you with others who can help guide you into your chosen field. Keep going—you're on the right path!

This is such a thoughtful question that shows how much you care. I recommend connecting with people in your community that you respect and take the opportunity to learn from them. Also, consider community events that you can participate in or host yourself.

Particularly around the environment, are there local street clean ups that you can join or is that something that you could initiate with friends and neighbors? Your question is something that professionals think about their entire careers, but it can start small!
