After considering the amount of violence that Journalists go through on the daily, I still want to be one but I want to be safe and I wonder why type of Journalists would I need to be in order for me to be safe?
I decided to be a journalist after coming to the conclusion that I'm awful at math. Then, I did some research and realized the work that these Journalists put in and I value the way they still stand tall when times are tough.

I'm a Journalism major in college right now, so I can attest that the journalism field is very broad. If your "beat," or special interest that you write about, is something like, say, war in Afghanistan. You'll of course write about what is happening there, to the dismay or approval of whoever it is that you're writing about. You might also go to the frontlines of the war to figure out what's going on there from the people who are actually there. That's dangerous, right? But you might just be an anchor at a news desk, doing the 6 o'clock news, reading from a teleprompter. That's also a journalist. You could also be the producer on the floor of the set, making sure everything is on time. You might be the camera operator, the teleprompter person, the technical director pushing the buttons. You might be someone who line edits for a newspaper. The field is HUGE!! There are a LOT of journalism jobs, and many of them are not considered "dangerous" at all. You have a lot of options to choose from in this field.

A free and fair press is crucial for the country. Journalists can protect themselves best by being well-prepared. To stay safe during chaotic news events, they should focus on preparation, assess risks, stay aware of their surroundings, work as a team, and use strong physical and digital security. Personal safety is essential.
