What is the most unexpected part of college that you wished somebody told you before you started??
Many people tell me the same things about college but I really wonder if there's tips or tricks I can know before I go

For me the biggest shock was the sudden expectations. Like Jerome said, no one encourages you to get things done, you have to do it yourself. Being in high school you rely on your parents for a lot of things and then in college there is a lot of things that are your responsibility that never have been before. You have to all the sudden be able to budget your money for food, time manage without any external help, do your own laundry etc. It can be very daunting, especially if you have never really learned these things before. College is a big change so allow yourself the time to adjust and find what works for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions and reach out for help, especially in the first few months.

The biggest shock was that nobody was going to encourage you to get things done. Yes, your teachers want you to succeed, but if you don’t turn in the paper, they’re not going to track you down. Going from report cards and progress reports being sent to your family to everything being on you can be quite the difference.
Having great study habits, blocking time each day and week to study and finding a group of people willing to study with you will go a long way.
