Hi Michael,
I'm not sure where you live, but I encourage you to see if there is a local TV or radio station near where you live. If there is, try reaching out to see if they have a summer job or internship available. Even if the job is answering the phone or responding to email or working on their Social Media presence, it puts you in the environment so you can see how things work and make connections.
Here's a not so little secret. Those of us in the workforce love when students come to work with us over the summer. It gives us a chance to teach what we know and pave the path for the next generation. So, take the initiative to see if there's a place where you can do some kind of job that allows you to be a fly on the wall to learn how it all works. Maybe there's even a college or university where you live that would have an opportunity at their local access channel or radio station.
Good luck!

Hi Michael - I agree with Mary Ann's advice above. In addition to local TV and radio stations, you can also search for local production companies or even regional offices of larger networks, depending on your location. Once you identify a company you’re interested in, don’t just reach out through their website—consider looking for individuals who work there on LinkedIn and connect with them as potential champions for your application.
Good luck!
