Hi Adrian: Openning a firm right out of law school is risky business. Knowledge of the law is one thing - experience another. It also matter as to what area you wish to practice in. I do not know enough about Pittsburg, California to offer a suggestion. However, if there area is growing fast you might want to look at real estate law. If there is a lot of crime - criminal. If ICE is an issue - immigration law.
I'd suggest getting a job with a firm who practices in the area you are interested in. That will give you insight on the field.
I know a ton of lawyers. Many hate what they do - I was a civil trial lawyer and loved it. However, you do not want to be stuck in a field you hate. Law can be a lot of fun. It's creative, exciting and you learn new things all the time. However, all that depends upon you and how you approach the practice. Remember, people hire a lawyer for their brain and heart.
Good luck and have fun
