Is the SAT/ACT really that important?

Both are no longer requirements at many colleges, so I'm unsure how necessary it is, Especially since I know I'll be transferring to a different college next year so I know the SAT might come up, but what are the chances?

Some colleges let you skip standardized tests, but many still require them. Your choice about taking the SAT or ACT depends on where you want to apply; skipping them might limit your options. Remember, colleges look at more than just test scores. They also consider your grades, teacher recommendations, activities outside of school, and community work.

Hi Raine!

I believe it depends on your major and the career you want to pursue. Anything in STEM I would take the ACT or SAT because it can give you a taste of the rigor required for the program you want to enter.

Final thoughts: I know it's more work, but it can really limit your access to a great school. It's not easy, but that's not the point, because college is a time to challenge and grow. If I were you, I would take the standardized test so you can apply wherever you would like.
