What are some ways you stay involved creatively on campus ?

I’m moving to North Carolina to attend Haywood Community College for the spring semester. I’ll be new to the state and the campus, but I want to find musical opportunities to stay involved in.

Congratulations on starting college! This is a great chance to explore a new town and discover exciting places. Try to do something new each day, like visiting a different store or street while getting to know the campus. Look out for sign-up sessions each semester to learn about all the clubs and organizations you can join. I found a helpful link for you to check out: https://www.haywood.edu/student-life/index.php.

Remember, don't stay cooped up in your room. Make it a goal to say hi to someone new in each of your classes every day. Keep smiling and be open to making new friends.

Hi Emily, it's great that you want to stay involved in music during college. During my time in college, I was part of my schools marching band and pep band. As Rebecca mentioned, keeping an eye out for student organizations can be helpful especially if your school as a music program they may have a choir, concert band or an orchestra that you can join or volunteer for. A lot of school will have a club extracurricular fair at the start of the semester so I'd definitely check fliers around campus to see if they mention one for the start of the semester. Additionally, even if the school doesn't have a music organization, a lot of towns have a community band, orchestra or a choir if you do an internet search for the type of music organization you're interested in for the towns close to campus I'm sure you can find a community organization to join.
