My biggest piece of advice? Treat your prerequisites like they matter just as much as the actual program, because they do. A competitive GPA is essential when applying, especially in anatomy and math. Don’t just aim to pass. Aim to truly understand the material. Radiography programs move fast, and students who struggle often lack a strong foundation in A&P.

Once you’re in, time management becomes everything. It’s not just classes, it’s clinicals, studying, check-offs, and competencies. Treat it like a full-time job. Stay organized, review material daily (even 30 minutes makes a difference), and don’t fall behind thinking you’ll “catch up later.”

Also, be coachable. In clinical, your attitude matters just as much as your technical skill. Show up early, ask questions, accept feedback, and be willing to improve. Techs and instructors notice professionalism fast.

It’s not an easy program. It’s demanding and sometimes overwhelming. But if you stay disciplined, keep your end goal in sight, and commit to doing the work every single week, you absolutely can get through it. And when you do, it’s incredibly worth it.

Hello Aline,

You have done well, choosing a career path which is the most important.

A line of advice from me that will help pull you through is:

1) Please continue to have a positive mindset about this course you have chosen. Love your lecturers, prioritize your studies, do research on topics you are finding difficult to understand. Be positive all through because positivity will build your energy. It will boost your strength when you feel tired to continue.

2) Communicate effectively. Please open up, don't shy away. Ask questions in classes, labs, practicals, etc ask your teachers, ask your fellow students, create or join in reading groups. Share your own knowledge, learn from others. (This helped me through school)

3) Always be in class early and don't miss lectures unless on serious cases but let your classmates or prefects know so they can obtain permission for you. Don't miss assignments, tests and exams.
