How can I kickstart my career in Fashion while also going to school to get a Fashion Design degree?
Hi! My name is Olivia, and I plan to go to school for Fashion Design! I'm pretty advanced in sewing and designing, but I want to be able to make money while doing something that contributes to fashion. I know that expenses can add up for fabrics, materials, etc. and I want to have a start in my future career.

Hi Olivia,
I wholeheartedly agree with Akosua-Panin, the previous adviser.
Start small, using scraps of fabrics from the larger projects, or upcycle your own denim or bedsheets, whatever you may find inspiring. This will minimize the cost of materials for you, and do good for our planet, too.
To reach a wide base of customers, create your own storefront on Etsy.com. Going through the steps of creating your logos, taking good quality photos of your items, writing the description, and learning all you need to know about shipping the items and dealing with the customers is in itself an excellent training in online marketing.
I am including the link below to help you get more information on the requirements for the seller. Good luck!

Hi Olivia!
Sometimes we may come to a hault when it comes to business adventures. I recall a beautiful story I read and I applied it to my life as well - I like to remember to start with what you have!
For example; when it comes to fashion; if you have several fabric peices laying around and want to monetize...considered creating something unique, that can be produced (in good quantity if need be). Here are few examples:
1. Repurposed fabric necklace
2. Belts
3. Hats
Wear your product and/or create a product ad to share, using Canva. Later, maybe open site/location to direct customers.
From there you may consider ways to help others, like:
-Every product sold, a certain percentage can go toward a good cause!
Many possibilities. This doesn't just stop with fashion. Again, the goal is to start with what you have.
Best,
Akosua-Panin
