That is a tough spot! I was an international student myself (though not a medical student), but I have friends who successfully navigated similar situations.

The good news is that you do not need to complete a full second BSc degree. Your existing BS in Microbiology is a strong foundation. You should look into a Post-Baccalaureate (Post-Bacc) Pre-Medical Program. This is typically a 1-2 year specialized program designed for students who already have a bachelor's degree but need to efficiently complete the specific pre-medical coursework required by U.S. medical schools. It's the most time-efficient route.

One important step I took before coming to the U.S. was to have my foreign transcripts officially evaluated. Services like World Education Services (WES) can map your courses to U.S. requirements. Make sure you do this early to see which of your Microbiology credits are transferable and which core science prerequisites you still need to take in the U.S. It's also crucial to understand how your GPA system translates to the U.S. scale.

While my answer might not be specific to the day-to-day life of a pre-med student, I believe this general international student advice points you to the right, faster route for your research. Best of luck on your journey!
