Hello, Wyatt !

Although you can enter Dental School with any Major from your undergraduate study, Biochemistry is a good major to choose before dental school. Prerequisite courses during your undergraduate path would be courses in general biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics.

Once you get your Bachelors Degree in a life science, you then will take the dental school entrance exam called the Dental Admission Test which most dental schools require. By then, you would have applied to Dental School. The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis is the only accredited dental school in Minnesota and is the primary institution for dental education in the state. The school also offers advanced training in dental specialties such as endodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontology, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, leading to certificates, master’s degrees, or PhD's. You could probably go for a tour of the college at any time, but this may be the dental school you end up going to. It is advised to study and become Licensed in the state that you intend to practice in.

It'll be a step by step process and you do not need to know the path in it's entirety right now. Focus on taking things step by step which will be your first step getting your Bachelors Degree. Lots of information can change between now and then. No one can tell how your individual experience will be. If there's any technical information you need to know, get that information directly from the college you attend or the Dental School.

More advice about your undergraduate path for your Bachelors Degree could be helpful in that you may not have "thought of it". That is regarding applying for scholarships to help out with college expenses. You can go to scholarship websites and read the various ones and apply for all that you qualify for. You can also apply for Scholarships for Dental School. Remember to apply for Federal Student Financial Aid also and apply for Work Study on that application. Getting a work study job means that you can work on campus in your Major Department and that will provide you with valuable knowledge, stronger connection in your major department and work experience skills. Speak with your college Financial Aid Office about these.

In your state, The North Star Promise Scholarship provides tuition and fee-free education for eligible Minnesota residents at participating institutions, covering the remaining balance after other financial aid is applied. There are also the Workforce Development Scholarships, funded by the Minnesota Legislature. Also look into these scholarships for your Bachelors Degree: the Minnesota Masonic Charities Scholarships, and The MnACC BIPOC Scholarships, and The Students United scholarship.

So let things unfold naturally and you'll be more informed as you go along. Do return here if you have any more specific questions. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !
