Paul’s Answer

Yes:

I have a Master in Public Administration (MPA), and sometimes colleges and universities have a Masters in Public Health option under this program.

As long as you meet the pre-requisites for admission, there should be no problem, if you have a political science degree.

Yes! As others mentioned the pre-requisites may vary a bit between schools but there will be several standard courses that you will need, and your major does not matter.
I think with a political science background you can tell a great story in your personal statement about why your background will be an asset to public health, especially to contributing to health policy and healthcare systems.
You should also do some research on the schools and the tracks they offer as some schools may have stronger policy and management programs that may be a better fit for your interests. This should include reaching out to professors and students before you apply and asking for a quick 15-min informational interview. This can be helpful in hearing from the professors and students there what it's like and what they enjoy about the school.

Best of luck!

Karin’s Answer

Hi AKIN,

You can apply to a masters program in Public Health with a bachelors in Political Science. The entry requirements vary a lot between different schools though reflecting different focus areas.

Some schools require some science and math courses as pre-requisites as well as work or volunteer experience in the healthcare sector, while for others a bachelors might be the only requirement.

I would recommend that you review different programs and different focus areas and find out about entry requirements for each school that you would consider.

Here are a few examples for you:

https://www.bu.edu/sph/admissions/applying/master-of-public-health/

I hope this helps! All the best to you!
