Hi Mandee. If you want to major in business, there are several ways to make your college application stand out. First, taking the right classes in high school can give you a solid foundation for your future studies. Classes like Business Management, Entrepreneurship, or Accounting will help you understand how businesses work. These subjects teach you important skills like budgeting, marketing, and managing money, which are key for a career in business. If your school offers these classes, taking them can show that you're already preparing for your future career.
In addition to your classes, getting involved in activities that develop leadership and teamwork skills will help strengthen your application. For example, you can take on leadership roles in clubs, sports teams, or community organizations. Running for a leadership position or organizing an event shows that you can take responsibility and work well with others. These are the skills that are highly valued in business.
Work experience is another great way to build your application. Having a part-time job, internship, or volunteer experience with a business can give you hands-on experience in the real world. Jobs in customer service, sales, or managing social media for a small business are all good ways to learn about business operations and improve skills like communication, problem-solving, and time management. Even if you don't have a formal job, finding ways to get involved in local businesses or projects can help you stand out.
