How do I begin a career as someone interested in protecting water bodies in my community from pollution?
This polution is as a result of illegal mining activities. Graduate civil engineer with interest in environmental engineering and sustainable development.

It's great that you want to use your education to tackle a serious problem in your country. There are several paths that you can consider: You can look for jobs with engineering and consulting firms that work in the mining, infrastructure or environmental sector. You can get involved with NGOs that work in the development and/or environmental sector. You can also get involved with government and the public sector if you are so inclined. Or you can pursue any combination of these.
You can use LinkedIn, Indeed or Ghanajob.com to search for specific job openings in your area or make contacts via company websites or LinkedIn.

I would bet that there is an organization in your community that focuses on that type of work. See if they accept volunteers so that you can get practical experience. This will also allow you access to those working in the field. These individuals can be interviewed about their career path and they yield strategies for your own career.
