Hello, I’m so sorry but unfortunately there are no online or jobs for anyone under the age of 18. You would have to seek employment in a grocery store if they allow it. You would possibly need documentation and permission forms signed by your parents or guardians. Once you’re 18 and have some people skills and work experience, you can apply for other job opportunities and apply to school or see if the new job can cover college expenses for you as long as you keep good grades. I hope you are able to find something that works for you.

As a 14-year-old, you can make money online safely even with little experience by focusing on education-related tasks. Options include tutoring or helping younger students with homework, creating simple educational content like study guides or short videos, assisting teachers or tutors with organizing worksheets and documents, or sharing your own original notes with classmates. Start small—help one person for free or cheaply, learn as you go, and gradually build skills and confidence. Always get parent approval, avoid jobs that ask for payment or personal info, and remember that the goal at this age is gaining experience and learning how to earn, not making a lot of money immediately.

Hello !
It's wonderful that you are exploring the world of work at 14 ! With no experience or skills, you are fortunate because El Cajon has some pretty good employment programs for teens that will help you reach your goals and even a first job !
You will need to obtain your first job on site, in person, not online. With skill building, sharpened communication and written skills, interaction with professionals on the job, you will perhaps one day be able to be qualified to work online in a specific field of work. Online work can be just as demanding as in person and in person work can be less demanding than online. Participating in an employment program will make it all real to you.
El Cajon Parks and Recreation Department offers a Teen Rec Leader program that provides structured volunteer opportunities for teens, including hands-on training from staff mentors and monthly meetings focused on developing skills such as communication, teamwork, customer service, and program safety. They also provide mock interviews to prepare you for real job interviews.
The East County Career Center, part of the America's Job Center Network, provides job search and career development programs for individuals of all ages, including teens, with services such as workshops and follow-up support regardless of employment status or background.
You are allowed to obtain employment in California at age 14. There are some restrictions, like you can't work on school days. You need to visit your high school's office and ask for a "Permit to Employ and Work" or "Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit". These are the "working papers" you need in California in order to work at age 14.
Once you obtain your working papers, you can apply for jobs at retail stores, supermarkets, food service, stocking shelves, bagging groceries, cleaning, and office tasks. Your best bet to know about jobs would be to go in person to the businesses within walking distance or bus routes to where you live and inquire about applying for work. A huge part of learning how to be prepared is to do this in person and remember that not everything in life should be done online.
Your best bet at age 14 would be inquiring at smaller or local businesses, such as mom and pop shops or seasonal positions as they may be may be more flexible. Youth job fairs or community programs like those offered by the East Bay Regional Park District (though not in El Cajon) can provide opportunities for younger teens. It takes work to qualify and find work. You can do it !
In the meantime, for quick, same day cash in hand, plan to hold garage/tag sales. Do a search online for guidelines about how to set up a tag sale at your front lawn or backyard and sell items that you and your family no longer need or want. Talk with your parents about this, too.
Once again, save online work for sometime in the future and for now, become more informed of the process for employment, obtain training at employment programs and develop basic skills to qualify you for some type of specific work. The employment programs will give you a new vision of what you must do in order to obtain a job.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !
