If you're looking for great theatre training in Mexico City, check out Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Their theatre and dramatic literature programs are top-notch and offer solid artistic training. Another excellent choice is Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral (ENAT), which focuses on professional stage work in a conservatory setting. For those interested in TV and film acting, Centro de Educación Artística (CEA) is well-known and has strong industry connections, though it can be competitive.
Think about what kind of actor or theatre artist you want to be. Are you drawn to classical theatre, experimental work, musical theatre, or screen acting? Try to visit the campuses, watch student performances, or take a workshop if available. The atmosphere of the school is important since you'll be working closely with others for years.
Trust your gut feeling too. A school might seem perfect on paper but not feel right for you, and that matters. Check out the faculty, performance opportunities, alumni success, and how much stage time students get. Theatre is very hands-on, so you want a place where you can perform, not just study theory.

Hi Huitzil,
You have a beautiful name! I’m also from Mexico. I can recommend, like others have mentioned, institutions such as UNAM or INBA. Any of these schools would be a great choice.
You may encounter some challenges in their academic programs, but what really sets them apart is that you can complement your studies with additional courses, many of which are usually free. These schools also have their own programs, theaters, and companies, where you may have the opportunity to work later on.

Hola Huitzil! As someone also from Mexico who studied and worked in Mexico City, I totally get that feeling of none of them fully convincing you, and what I learned from choosing schools is that there's no "perfect" one, just the one that fits what you need right now . For theatre in Mexico City you've got some solid options: UNAM's CUT is probably the most respected and rigorous program in the country and it's basically free, INBAL's Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral is very well-rounded, Casa Azul is great if you want something more contemporary and experimental, and Centro has a cool creative energy if budget isn't a concern. My biggest tip is don't just look at websites, go sit in on classes, talk to current students, find out who the teachers are and if they're actually active in the city's theatre scene, and check whether the program leans more classic or contemporary depending on what excites you. Also if musical theatre is your thing specifically, make sure the program actually covers that because not all of them do. You got this!
