Hola
Good Question.
To get ahead in the culinary field, start by exploring local cuisines and flavors. Each region has its own unique way of preparing dishes, so learning these differences can be a big advantage. Travel as much as you can, as it goes hand in hand with cooking. The experiences you gain from meeting locals, traveling and trying new foods are invaluable.

Don't limit yourself to just one type of cooking. Be open to learning new things and experimenting. Take your time to explore and grow at your own pace.

Hie Emil,
Getting an advantage in te culinary filed entails a number of things. For me, it's not just about acquiring education or certification in the culinary field but it's about learning from the best- those who have defied industry standards and those who have made names. Yes, it can be difficult to get direct contact with celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsey, but the good news is they have their work is all over the Internet for everyone to see and learn from them. Besides learning from their skills and creativity, also learn from their discipline and work ethic. You will realise that there are many skilled chefs or culinary artists around the world but what sets them apart is not just their skills but how they manage their lives in and outside the kitchen.

I also suggest that you look for a mentor in the culinary arts field who is willing to take you step by step and mould you towards what you desire. In everything, remain humble and submissive to those trying to help you. Remain willing to learn and that is what will make you grow fast and be outstanding in this highly competitive industry. I wish you all the best !

Hay Emil, The best way to get an advantage or a leg up in life is to work a job you really love. i know it's easier said than done, but very true. If you want to get a head in the culinary world go to school i.e. BOCES, Culinary school after high school . You should also find a part time job in a commercial kitchen while still in high school like i did. It really helped me in culinary school because I was so ahead with knife skills ,kitchen functions and food knowledge. I also learned to cook in my house helping my mother cook dinners for my family. I was around 12 yrs old when I started to cook on my own for the family and did the food shopping. use your family as ginny pigs and experiment on them for feed back of your cooking and seasoning. Good luck and happy cooking.
