Can I still become a vet if my freshman and first semester of sophomore year had a bad GPA?
What do I do if my first year and first semester of high school had a bad GPA? I want to be a vet and I haven't taken any good classes for it yet, but I'm still only on my second year. I plan to try and get as many credits before graduation. can I still go to a good vet school because of my first years horrible GPA, or will I need to choose a different path?

Hi Ty! First off all, do not count yourself out. You're only a sophomore, which means you still have plenty of time to turn things around. Schools love to see an upward trend in your GPA because it shows growth and resilience. From my personal experience, what mattered most was staying consistent and always leveling up. I kept pushing academically from my undergrad all the way through to grad school, earning scholarships along the way. I also stacked certifications on top of my degrees to show I was always improving and committed to learning. For you, focus on crushing these next two and a half years, take science and biology classes that are relevant to vet school, volunteer at animal clinics or shelters to build experience, and show admissions committees that your early GPA doesn't define you. A strong upward trend plus real hands-on experience with animals can absolutely make up for a rough start. You've still got time, so don't switch paths just yet. Lock in now, stay disciplined, and you can definitely make vet school happen!

1) One thing for sure that I will says is you should never give up on becoming a Veterinarian because failure is part of growing and learning from it, we aren’t born to know everything from the start, but we can’t let our past mistakes define who we are, we can changes the present to make our future the a better version than we are back then because that’s how progress works.
2) There are many pathways you could consider other options such as trade school or non traditional education pathway such as certification program or any programs/services that you can do online or nearby area that you could go to.
3) Then once you settled in, you will thank yourself on how much growth you had become and feel proud of yourself for not giving up too fast and staying focused on your goals that leads to the outcome you want it so badly because you work so hard for it and it is okay to fail at first, kinda like a roller coaster, they are trying to rise up but then can’t until they tried over and over again until they reached to the top and they succeed, it is just matter of patience and effort you put into it.
