What are the best schools in Massachusetts to get a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Business and Economics?
I'm in 6th grade, and I'm looking at what I want to do when I graduate! I've decided that being a graphic designer is the best option, but I'm not sure what college to go to, and I'd like to get a minor in business and economics so I can be as successful as possible!

Hey Evaline, it's so great that you're already planning ahead in 6th grade! Massachusetts has some amazing options for you, like Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), Northeastern University, Boston University, and Emerson College, all of which offer strong graphic design programs and the flexibility to pick up a business or economics minor. From my own experience, combining creative skills like designing templates and functional specs with business knowledge in areas like analytics and project management has been a game-changer for opening doors in my career. That combo of design and business thinking is super powerful, so you're definitely on the right track, just keep exploring and you'll find the perfect fit!

Hi Evaline, it's great that you're planning ahead for colleges already! I agree with some of the other comments that Massachusetts has many great schools for this combination. One thing to keep in mind is that if you go to an art school like MassArt you will basically only be able to take art classes and some limited liberal arts courses. Art schools are a great place to meet other people who are planning to make their career around art and learn far more advanced classes but if you want to also study business you should probably go to a school with a wider variety of options and make sure the school will let you minor in another field. Also keep in mind that once you start high school (9th grade) your grades and outside of school activities will really determine where you can go to college. So for example, Boston University (BU) has a great arts school and a great business school and many opportunities to take classes across both. The average GPA (grade point average) of students accepted at BU is a 3.7 to a 4.0. So if you want to go to BU you should make sure you are getting all A's in your classes in high school. If you end up with a lower GPA you will still have other college options, just maybe not all the ones you are looking at now.
