What can I do to afford going to a school thats going to cost around $80,000 a year without using student loans? I am currently looking for as many scholarships as I can but I don't have any other ideas. The school is a public school in California and I am from Florida. My FASFA won't cover much. Any ideas?

Hi Josephine,
Other than scholarships, there are some areas you can try.
The first thing is try to apply for California residency. As you might know, California public universities charge significantly lower in-state tuition compared to out-of-state, you may qualify for California residency after establishing physical presence, which including but not limited to 12-month residency, paying taxes, California Driver License and vehicle registration, voter registration in California, formal lease in California, open California Back account and keep 3- 6 months of monthly bank statement...... for more details, please seek advice from a specialist.
You can also explore Federal & State grants. Even if FAFSA covers little, you can try to apply for California-specific grants like the Cal Grant (for undergraduate students with financial need) or Blue & Gold Opportunity Plan (covers system-wide fees for low-income California residents). There is also Federal Pell Grant, you can check if you qualify for a higher Pell Grant award by updating your FAFSA with accurate financial information.
For sure, part-time job and reduce cost of living can reduce stress of school cost.
Hope the above is helpful to you. Cheers.
