Start simple as you’re building a “student resume”, not a professional one yet. So, focus on showing interest in medicine, responsibility, and growth.
Here’s a concise structure which you can follow:
1. Header
• Name, phone, email, city
2. Objective (1–2 lines)
• Example: “High school sophomore interested in pursuing a career in medicine, seeking opportunities to gain healthcare exposure and leadership experience.”
3. Education
• School name, grade (10th), GPA (if strong)
• Relevant classes: Biology, Chemistry, Health Science
4. Activities & Experience
• Clubs (Science Club, HOSA, Red Cross, etc.)
• Volunteering (hospital, clinic, community service)
• Shadowing (if any)
• Part-time jobs or helping roles (babysitting, tutoring)
5. Skills
• Communication, teamwork, basic first aid/CPR, time management
6. Achievements
• Awards, competitions, academic honors
7. Interests (optional)
• Health-related interests, reading about medicine, etc.
You can make it just in 1 page with using bullet points and focus on impact (what you did, not just where you were). Start building experience now (volunteering, certifications like CPR).
All the Best.

As a tenth grader, you can begin writing down any accomplishments, awards, and volunteering work you do, so you will be able to easily retrieve that when you write your medical school applications during your late junior year of college.
If you build a skeleton of a resume, you may notice what might be missing from a stellar resume, and then work to build up any deficiencies. The most important thing remains getting excellent grades - especially in the core requirement classes during college. Other nice-to-haves include leadership positions, such as student body officer, team captain, club leader... It helps if you can do some work in a lab to demonstrate research capabilities. To demonstrate that you are well-rounded, show that you have interests beyond medicine. Music, art, theater, sports, fluency in multiple languages... are all pluses.
From time to time read your resume and pretend you are a medical school application reader. What might impress them? Don't do things just to check a box, however. Do things that you care about and enjoy. Otherwise you will be unhappy, and you can't succeed without working on your own health and happiness.
