Hi Celeste, You sound like a good fit for nursing/health care setting. Nursing day is scheduled. Such as Time to pass meds, time to prep patients for exams, and various tasks depending on what patient population you are caring for. Although there are daily tasks and physician/exam tasks that will be added to patient care needs, your medical observation of your patient is first line response care. You will communicate any of your medical assessment concerns to the attending physician/s. Being able to work independently and advocate for your patient is a successful trait to have/develop.
The structure of healthcare may fit your work environment preferences but do you enjoy caring for people? There are several options for a person's level of interacting with patients. Such as Med surg can have a lot of patient interaction compared to less in ICU or procedural nursing. Each specialty has it's own level of patient interaction and medical acuity. Understanding what type of person you are when communicating and caring for someone will help you to choose which nursing specialty to pursue. Good luck.

Hello Celeste. I’m my opinion the way that you open to working in the type of environment would be a great fit for you. I come from a long line of retail and because i wasn’t growing in the company, i wanted to do something different. So i applied for some classes for a certificate and decided to go back to school to receive my associates degree in Medical Office Administration. I did some intern with an Urgent Care whete they decided to hire me. I grow a best friend there in the meantime that made a move to the company that we are now at. I began at front desk and then year later i applied for clinical nurse. Mÿ responsibilities are testing my patients daily for allegies and asthma, where i was trained to do. I enjoy working and meeting new people so this was a perfect choice for me. So i feel as long as you keep the same mindset about what you want to do, and willing to grow and take constructive criticism and be compassionate and sincere about it, I think you will do great with it and grow and be very successful.

Zakari’s Answer

Hi Celeste,
Yes I would say nursing would be a good fit for you. I do not know much of the role of nurses but I do know that structure plays a major part in their role. Nurses always have to follow guidelines and procedures, you will always know what you need to do and follow. Nurses always have their freedom as well and have to make critical decisions to ensure the patient is safe, it definitely takes a lot of time, patience, and dedication and if you do not have those factors do not become a nurse.
