How do you know what classes will be the most beneficial for the program of study that you are wanting to study?

For example, I want to be a Physical Therapist and would like to know what classes I should definitely take. #Spring26

When planning your undergraduate classes, it's important to include all the prerequisites for the physical therapy graduate program you want to attend. Each program may have different requirements, so check the websites of the schools you're interested in to ensure you meet all their needs. Admission is competitive, so aim to excel in your classes, especially the required ones. According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), typical prerequisite courses are:

- Anatomy or A&P 1 with lab
- Physiology or A&P 2 with lab
- Biology 1 (not botany or zoology)
- Biology 2 (not botany or zoology)
- General Chemistry 1 with lab
- General Chemistry 2 with lab
- General Physics 1 with lab
- General Physics 2 with lab
- Psychology
- Statistics

Here's a link to an APTA website that discusses other considerations for admissions.

Good luck with your studies!

You should ensure that you are taking all the prerequisites needed in order to fulfill the requirements for PT school. Some colleges have specific tracks that ensure you are taking these courses. A biology or health sciences major usually will cover everything you need. If given the choice, health sciences may be a more appropriate major for someone wanting to become a physical therapist as it may offer additional classes that are more relevant to the courses you will be taking in PT school and will better prepare you.
