1. Check out the school in person if you can. Walk around, see the classes, and get a feel for the place. Notice how students act and how they talk to the staff. Is the building clean, safe, and in good shape? Can you see yourself working there every day? Trust your gut feeling after the visit.
2. Think about your future goals. Do you want to get certified in special education, become a reading specialist, or move into administration? Does this school offer chances to grow, learn new skills, and advance your career? Can you see yourself staying there for 3 to 5 years or more to gain experience?

Hi Karley :) my partner is going through this same process right now. In selecting a school, we have utilized ChatGPT and Google AI tools to research the support schools offer their teachers, the demographics of students/teachers, and the location of the school (we want it within 15-20 minutes of where we are living). The most important thing is that you feel like you belong at the school, have the support you need, and are working with the group of students you want to work with. Some schools also use more technology in the classroom than others and have different policies that may impact the way you can teach.
Hope your research goes well and best of luck as you complete your degree! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
