How do I contact professors for undergraduate research experiences as a prospective physics major, and what should I include in my email to professors?
I have no research experience and am hoping to gain valuable research skills that will help me on my path to graduate school (hoping to eventually pursue a graduate degree in physics).

Andrew’s Answer
When I was a sophomore in physics (1972), I got an opportunity to grade homework for two freshman physics courses (General Physics I and General Physics II) for a professor. By the end of my sophomore year, he offered me a part-time job as a laboratory assistant shadowing his Ph.D. student. It was my luck start and I got the opportunity to learn about research. The experience was instrumental for my graduate studies in physics.
Based on this experience, it is necessary to prove ourselves in mastering the basic physics courses to catch attention of your physics professors. Then, you are in a much better position to seek research opportunities from them.
