AI is changing how work is done. Cybersecurity is an excellent field to develop your skills with AI. Having myself worked in security, I can confidently say, the combination will future proof you. Build strong foundation in security fundamentals, networking, linux, do hands on lab work to stimulate attack and defense scenarios. Learn to differentiate between logs (system vs auth), understand failures and patterns, differentiate between normal and suspicious(threat). Specialize in one area, pick from Cloud security, threat detection, AI security ( protecting models and data pipelines, data poisoning) or governance/ compliance whatever interests you and apply AI relevant tools with it to
• Analyze, summarize logs and generate detection rules with AI (eg laptop logs and use Claude or gemini or ChatGPT)
• Generate automated models (n8n, make)
• Investigate incidents faster
• Automate responses
There are more open source tools available that might be better like Shuffle and TheHive that you can look into.
AI tools depend on your understanding of what is happening, how systems can be broken, incident response and decision making. It is a multiplier to your knowledge. Good luck!
